Best Dog Here
We exhibited some of our Alaskan Klee Kai at the American Kennel Club’s Meet the Breeds event in NYC. Thousands of people attend each year to be able to see the various breeds, ask questions, and get hands on experience. It’s a great opportunity for breed clubs to educate the public on their breeds and it’s always a huge success and plenty of fun!
This year I was nearly in tears. On Sunday a young man came to meet the Alaskan Klee Kai through the crowds and spent time hanging out with Rin. This was 1 year old Rin’s first year doing this event.
AKC has a kids corner at the show, and I am guessing they maybe had children making ribbons and writing on the ribbons what they intend the ribbon to be for and to hand out to the dog of their choice. (If anyone would like to confirm, let me know!)
Before the day ended on Sunday, this young man comes back to our booth with his family and hands me the ribbon that he made, shown in the photo. I was surprised and thanked him, asking him who this ribbon was for. He said “the red one” (Rin!). I don’t think I have ever been more proud of one of our dogs, knowing he met many other dogs that day, but deemed Rin the “best dog there”. I don’t think there’s a ribbon in our home now that means more to us than this ribbon right here, from that very sweet little boy.
